The Muslim Mortuary & Cemetery Committee MMCC (FD-2119) was established in 1991 as a religious nonprofit federally tax exempt 501C(3) organization by a group of conscientious Muslims. MMCC is also fully licensed by the State of California’s Cemetery & Funeral Bureau.
MMCC’s mission is to “provide the Muslim Community with complete burial needs in accordance with Sharia, in the most expeditious, courteous, and economical manner, irrespective of means of the deceased in the spirit of Fard al-Kifayah (communal obligation).”
Since the establishment of its first Muslim burial area in 1991 at the Melrose Abby Memorial Park in Anaheim, MMMC has added three more burial grounds in Westminster, La Verne and Montecito. Over the past more than twenty-five years, MMCC has served more than 2,700 Muslim families in southern California.
MMCC works closely with the mortuary services of: Melrose Abbey, Islamic Society of Orange County, Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley, Islamic Center of southern California and Antelope Islamic Institute.
Over the years, MMCC has been ably and voluntarily led by prominent community leaders, such as: Ismail Dadabhoy, Dr. Atiq Siddiqi, and Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, among others. MMCC is currently served by a volunteer board that includes: Hamid-ul-Haq, Rauf Patel, Hafiz Faiz Ali Shah, Samer Soubra, Dr. Atiq Siddiqi, Shakeel Syed and Abdul Wahab.
